Mind the Frontline Honors Fallen Heroes with Memorial Run

Mind the Frontline Commemorates Fallen Heroes with AEL 122/158 Memorial Walk/Run

Weatherford, OK, April 20, 2024 - Mind the Frontline, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the mental health and well-being of first responders, held a poignant and meaningful event on Saturday, April 20, 2024. The Honoring the Fallen AEL 122/158 Memorial Walk/Run took place at the Air Evac Lifeteam 122 base in Weatherford, OK, honoring the memory of fallen heroes and expressing gratitude to all those who participated and supported the event.

The chosen route for the walk/run held special significance, as it was a path frequently traversed by one of the crew members of AEL 122, symbolizing the dedication to both mental and physical fitness that is emblematic of first responders. It was a privilege to share this experience with approximately 80 in-person attendees and 18 virtual runners from across the nation, who united in solidarity to pay their respects.

Representatives from various agencies, including the Weatherford Fire Department, the State of Oklahoma EMS Bureau, Oklahoma State Patrol, Marshall County EMS, AMR, and Air Evac Lifeteam, joined together with crews and family members from outside agencies, demonstrating a profound sense of community and support.

Despite initial forecasts of inclement weather, participants were greeted with a stunning sunrise and clear skies, setting an uplifting tone for the day's events. Family-friendly activities, including corn hole, ladder ball, and axe throwing, fostered connections and camaraderie among attendees before the commencement of the walk/run.

Chris Smetana, President and Founder of Mind the Frontline, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all those who rallied around the community and families, fostering resilience and unity in the face of adversity. Representatives of the fallen heroes' families were deeply moved by the outpouring of support from the first responder community, further underscoring the profound impact of this event. GMR President of Air Operations Daniel Sweeza was also on hand to meet and speak with participants and family members.

As participants embarked on the walk/run, individuals of all ages, including families with strollers and child carriers, came together to honor the memories of the dearly departed. Following the conclusion of the event, attendees gathered for a touching tribute to the fallen heroes, sharing cherished memories and celebrating their lives.

Mind the Frontline extends sincere appreciation to all those who contributed to the success of the Honoring the Fallen AEL 122/158 Memorial Walk/Run, including event sponsors, volunteers, and participants. The generosity and support demonstrated at this event embody the spirit of resilience and compassion within the first responder community.
