Overview

Mind the Frontline is a leading organization dedicated to providing mental health support and resources to frontline workers. We are seeking a highly qualified and compassionate individual to join our team as a Peer Support Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for providing immediate crisis support through hotlines and social media outlets, as well as offering scheduled, 24/7 support when needed. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in crisis mitigation and provide essential resources to individuals in need.



Responsibilities

  • Accept immediate crisis contacts from hotlines or social media outlets and provide timely support and resources.

  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of crisis mitigation techniques and be available as a resource for immediate support, including scheduled support and potential travel as required by crisis situations.

  • Collaborate closely with certified mental health specialists to ensure the effectiveness of the support provided.

  • Establish clear criteria and performance indicators for progression from a Peer Support Responder to a Peer Support Specialist.

  • Consider years of experience as a healthcare provider as one of the criteria for advancement to the specialist role.

  • Evaluate applicants based on how they have integrated their professional expertise and personal experiences to provide impactful support to frontline workers.

  • Provide additional training to Peer Support Specialists on advanced crisis intervention techniques, self-care strategies, and building long-term supportive relationships with frontline workers.

  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of crisis contacts and interactions with individuals seeking support.

Requirements

  • Completion of the Peer Support Team Member training.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in providing, working, supporting, or being involved in Peer Support or a Peer Support program capacity.

  • Active First Responder status.

  • Excellent crisis intervention skills and the ability to provide immediate support to individuals in crisis.

  • Strong knowledge of mental health issues and crisis mitigation techniques.

  • Demonstrated ability to integrate professional expertise and personal experiences to provide impactful support.

  • Empathy and the ability to establish a supportive and trusting relationship with individuals seeking assistance.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Ability to work effectively in high-pressure and fast-paced environments.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.
